Beer drinkers will delight as the fourth annual Top of the Hops Beer Festival comes to the Mississippi Coast Convention Center on Saturday.

Top of the Hops promises a relaxed setting for sampling more than 150 world-class craft beers. Guests can visit four beer gardens to receive 2-ounce samples of the beers.

Among the 52 brewers scheduled are long-established brewers and newer companies such as Omission, an Oregon-based brewery that crafts a line of gluten-free beers made with traditional ingredients.

Mississippi is no longer the one-brewery state it used to be. Since the state raised the limit on its alcohol by volume percentage, six breweries have followed in Lazy Magnolia's footsteps and many of them will be on tap for the event.

The popular Boston brewery Samuel Adams will introduce three beers beginning at 5:30 p.m. One of them is Tetravis, a Belgian ale aged for up to a year in Hungarian oak barrels. Their Rebel IPA, a West Coast-style brew, will be presented at 6:30 p.m. Also, their ultra-rare, 29 percent ABV Utopias will be presented at 7:30 p.m. with only the first 20 guests receiving samples.

Other special events include seminars such as Food Pairings and Brewing 101, offered in the Brew University Education Area. A cornhole tournament will pit 16 two-man teams in bracket format as they compete for the top prize of a Tin Roof Brewing Co. cornhole set. For entry information, email

The Coates Brothers Band will provide live music for the event.
