Q. What is the Top of the Hops Beer Festival?

  1. The 4th Annual Top of the Hops - Charlottesville Beer Festival, presented by Starr Hill Brewery and Beer Run, will showcase the growing popularity of craft beers from around the country and the world in a relaxed and friendly environment. Patrons have access to two-ounce samples of over 150 craft beers in the Abita, Blue Mountain, Goose Island in the Beer Gardens and Miller's Downtown Beer Gardens. The festival will also feature the Devil's Backbone Brew University Area where patrons will enjoy beer seminars such as Cooking with Beers, Food Pairings and other beer education sessions. Come enjoy the mass of craft beers with live music and games!

Q. Do I need to buy beer tokens for tastings?

A.No. All beer tastings are included with your ticket.

Q. Will there be tickets for sale at the gate the day of the festival?

  1. If tickets are sold out in advance, then tickets will not be available at the door. If the festival has not sold out by Saturday morning then yes, tickets will be available at the door.

Q. Can I bring my own food or beverages into the festival?

  1. No outside food or beverages allowed, except pretzel necklaces!

Q. Will there be an ATM on-site?

  1. No- but there is one less than a block from our front gate. We do allow exit and re-entry.

Q. Will food and non-alcoholic drinks be available for purchase?

  1. Yes.

Q. Can I purchase additional beer at the festival?

  1. Beer will not be for sale at the festival. Beer will only be available in two ounce samples.

Q. Who will be allowed into the festival?

  1. Anyone 21 and older with a valid ID will receive a wristband which will allow the sampling of beer. Patrons under 21, accompanied by an adult are allowed in to the festival but can not sample beer.

Q. Where should I park?

  1. The The nTelos Wireless Pavilion is located in the urban core of Downtown Charlottesville and has no onsite parking. We do have an agreement in place to allow our patrons to use prepaid parking vouchers in the Water Street Parking Garage which is an easy walk to our venue. Parking vouchers may be purchased with your online ticket purchases or at the box office on the day of the show. Please note you do not need your voucher until you are leaving the garage at the end of the night.

Q. Can I bring a folding chair/lawn chair with me?

  1. Low backed lawn chairs or beach chairs are allowed in the general admission lawn area, please be considerate of your neighbors when setting up chairs. (Our definition of low back chairs means the back of the chair does not come above your shoulders when you are sitting in it.)

Q. What if it rains?

  1. Bring rain gear! The event is rain or shine!

Q. Can I leave the festival site and return later?

  1. Only to visit the ATM.

Q. What if I bought tickets, but will not be able to attend the festival?

  1. Sorry, as stated when purchased, tickets are non-refundable.

Q. Do you accept credit cards or checks at the door?

  1. If tickets are still available the day of the festival, only CREDIT CARDS and CASH will be accepted.

Q. Will there be a will call?

  1. Yes. Will call will be located at the front entrance.

Q. When is the last beer poured?

  1. 6:45pm.

Q. How can I find a brewery or beer?

  1. You will be given a Beer Fest guide upon entering. It will provide you with a map and descriptions of each brewery and beer.

Q. Will any of the beer run out?

  1. Possibly. All beers are subject to availability and popularity, so we cannot guarantee that a beer will be available the entire session.

Q. Can I bring my kid?

  1. Yes. However they will not receive a wristband or be allowed to sample beer.

ADA Accommodations.

  • The Charlottesville Pavilion is ADA accessible and we have a ramp from the concession level down to the seating area. Our staff will always be glad to assist if you need any assistance.

Medical.

  • If you need assistance look for a police officer, festival volunteer, security or staff member to direct you to the first aid area.

Lost & Found.

  • Lost & found will be located at the box office of the Charlottesville Pavilion.

Security/Safety.

  • Our primary goal is to create a safe and secure environment for all festival attendees. To ensure this, there will be on-site security provided by local police and private security companies. If you're experiencing any problems whatsoever, locate a festival staff member, security guard, or police officer.

Responsible Drinking.

  • With an emphasis on beer appreciation, the Top of the Hops – Charlottesville Beer Festival Top is a place to learn about craft beers. We do not promote over-consumption so please pace yourself. Anyone found to be excessively intoxicated will be removed from the premises. Remember: Quality, not Quantity!
